“Throughout my youth I was not the type of person to shy away from difficult conversations. I took particular interest in people by listening to their life stories, understanding them and their circumstances, and attempting to help in some way. During my undergraduate studies in psychology, I began to discover and nurture a growing interest in counselling. However, I did not pursue it until years later and only after I found that I needed to seek counselling for myself.

This turned out to be pivotal for my personal life as I encountered Biblical counselling. I am embarrassed to say that despite my own interest in counselling, I was slow to seek help. I was struggling, feeling lost and helpless, yet I was reluctant to actually seek any form of outside help. I told myself that I could figure it out and make changes on my own. In reality, I was stuck and in pain but I didn’t want to see it. When I saw that there was too much at stake, I finally began to look outside of myself.

Why was I so reluctant to seek help? I believe that this is part of the story of every Christian. We continuously go through periods of resistance followed by the recognition of our need for Christ before we take steps to grow and change. We live in a world full of suffering, searching for meaning in a life mostly unexplained.

I started Luminyx so that people may know how Christ is present in their lives even in their most difficult circumstances. My hope is that together we can see this truth come alive, uniquely making a difference for you as He did for me.”
